Started GGSA

We started photographing GGSA last night. We are shooting again tonight, then G.O. Baseball next week. If you read this blog and are a part of GGSA/GO Baseball please call us and schedule your team if you haven't already.

Ken made it back from Florida yesterday. He left us to hold down the fort, which I think we did a hell of a job! He took a trip down to do some fishing.

Now that is one happy man!

Seniors

It is time to start booking your senior photo shoot. This year, Spectrum has changed it's specials to offer you even better stuff. For the past few years we have offered a Pre-Pay plan and we have now fit it to what the seniors actually use.

You deposit money on your account prior to the session and we give you free stuff, including some awesome graduation announcements. However, you must schedule your session before July or you will not be able to take advantage of these great deals! Contact us via email or 308.436.4422 and we will send a brochure your way pronto!

Speaking of seniors, we photographed a 2009 graduate last week. It was a simple shoot and since blog posts are better with photos....

Starting to pick up!

Sorry for the delay, I have been out of town last week and now today it's playing catch up! We had our annual Fire School in Grand Island and I was asked to instruct the introduction class. Pretty exciting stuff!

Got back today and Kat's granddaughter came in for some photos

Myah has been sick lately so we didn't push her. In fact, we only got in about 15 minutes of shoot time before Myah said she was done. Poor little girl...

Engagement - May 8th

Man I hate the wind! This couple drove down from Alliance. They scheduled this week and we hoped it was decent weather. And the temp was great and we had good lighting. But the wind was howling... 30 mph!

We opted to take a few inside then braved the storm and headed out. We had one decent place where the wind was somewhat blocked.

I told them to look at each other instead of my ugly mug:

And then some kissing ensued...

We were standing in this outdoor building and the back light was pretty strong.

We kept it short and sweet. Didn't want to have our eyes full of dirt. Im pretty excited about the wedding. We will start off at a local park in Alliance then head to the golf course to get married.

Also, we have our 2010 senior brochure ready to be mailed out. If you have a senior, are a 2010 senior, or know of somebody that will be give us a call and we can mail one out. You do not want to miss out on these early specials!

Engagement - Wildcat Hills - May 2

Let me start off by saying I hate the wind. Every time I plan to head out and shoot the wind picks up. I can handle rain, snow, sun, no sun, whatever. But wind is hard to work with when shooting portraits.

We shot again on Saturday and again it was spitting. The lighting is spectacular on overcast days. We could walk anywhere and not have to worry about light. Hey, I will take that any day... even on windy days!

I met the couple through another couple that is planning their wedding in June. We are truly thankful for our clients. Majority of our business is from referrals and we are humbled when we see it. Thank you again! So, lets keep it going :).

She is currently living in Colorado while he is in Sidney. They are planning a Sidney wedding in August and trust me, Im excited as ever. They are going with cheesecake instead of regular cake. Somewhere along the line I think he heard wedding cake does something....

Here is how we started out:

Which is good. I like to laugh too. We sat around a shelter for a while and the light was good:

One morning when you guys are just waking up I hope this bad boy is cooking you breakfast:

We then headed over to a plateau that overlooks Gering. Pretty sweet up there:

There are several picnic tables all around. One in particular was setting under a tree. A great place for a picnic:

Headed back down the road. There was a little clearing in the trees:

Just for fun. He managed to get some massive air:

Finally got back to the park entrance:

The was the first time photographing an engagement out at the hills. From the looks of it, I will be heading back there again!

Check back for their wedding photos in August.

May Day engagement session

I totally apologize for not keeping things updated here. It's crunch time at Spectrum and we have been trying to keep up with the end of school jobs. Not to mention I came down with a very nasty cold the past week. Things will be settling down in the coming weeks and we will be photographing some cool stuff in the coming weeks. For starters I spent majority of the afternoon with this couple.

This couple met last year through some friends. I love to get to know the couple before the wedding. And thats why every one of our wedding packages includes a free engagement session. This way we can get to know how each other works in front and behind the camera. The bride got his number and started texting him. During the shoot he acted like he was pretty ornery. But after hearing the story on how they finally got together, I think she is more of the deviant! We had to reschedule several different times because of the weather; we would get a nasty snow storm. We both were dead set on shooting outdoors. Yesterday it was pretty cold and drizzling, but we said LETS GO! The good thing.... awesome light and I am always down for that.

We started just over the bridge in Scottsbluff, then made our way back to the studio:

She wanted some pink in the background to match the outfits. It fit nicely.

We then headed down to some cool little stairs and underneath the river bridge. I wish we could of shot some more around there but I had a few other plans. Maybe next time.

On our way back to Gering.

We pretty much walked around downtown. If felt much warmer here than around the river. And the drizzle actually stopped.

We sat down for a bit and a game of slap hand broke out. I might be wrong, but I think she actually won!

On the lawn in front of the Courthouse. I encourage a lot of kissing during our sessions...

...which was no problem.

So we just walked...

... and came across this sign in front of a furniture store. Interesting!

I am super excited to photograph their wedding in June. It will be at the 5 Star Ranch right along the Nebraska/Wyoming border. Everything will be outdoors. Totally looking forward to it.

Now onto engagement number 2...
