December 15 - Wedding in Gering, NE

Ken photographed a wedding at the Gering Methodist Church. The couple is in military and were able to come back to Gering to get married. Along with the 8 inches of snow on the ground, it was very cold!

Take a look at them getting ready:

A nice photo of the groom:

It was a candlelight ceremony, with tons of Christmas decorations!

The sister of the bride gave an amazing toast:

We headed upstairs to the honeymoon sweet to capture a few photos:

Enough said:

I almost forgot...

Seniors!

We had twins stop in for their senior sitting yesterday. Everyone braved the cold and snapped a few cool shots outside. Check out that bike!

Happy Holidays everyone!

What is a tree without a Husker ornament! Actually, its a bead necklace I picked up in New Orleans during the recovery efforts after Katrina. The beads are so fitting for the tree though.

Ken is photographing the last 2007 wedding tomorrow. Be sure to check back for some awesome photos plus the 07 recap. Also, we downloaded the update for Safari (now 3.0.4) and I am having problems with blogger. Safari will crash on me when Im working in blogger. The photo uploaded also acts weird. I can now see the html icons, but it crashes!!! Anyone else having this problem?

December 11, 2007

Its snowing.... again. All this past weekend it snowed and was below freezing. And today I woke up to huge snowflakes falling again! Im going to try and make it out to snap a few photos :).

Sooo, since it was too cold for a 5 month old, we stayed inside and got a few good shots. The father is a buddy of mine, in fact more of a brother from another mother. He is also a firefighter from Gering (not as green as Levi). They decided to come in and get some Christmas photos. It will be a kick when it warms up and we get to go outside! Clicking on a photo will enlarge it.

I think he will be a great big brother :)

I just had to post this! See, when you come to Spectrum for some photos and you dont have fun and smile, the punishment is wet willies!

GHS Gallery updated

We have included the Cheerleader photos now. If you want to view our photos for Gering, email nate@spectrumphoto.com to get the password, then click here to access the Gering High Galleries.

As a reminder to everyone, there are less than 2 weeks until Christmas. We are busy filling Christmas orders and if you want your photos before Christmas PLEASE CALL NOW!!!

Go Bo!

In excited! Apparently, Tom Osborne will name Pelini as Nebraska's new head coach. Among all of the names swarming the media, Bo has been my favorite because he is a stand up, no nonsense guy. Even though this will be his first time as a head coach, I think he has what it takes.

This year has been gut-wrenching to watch. Along with everyone else, I wanted Kevin Cosgrove as the D.C. to be gone. But I felt Callahan deserved one more year. I think he's a good coach. He just calls bad plays at times. Everyone makes mistakes. Dont get me wrong, I will not miss him. I just hope this will not hurt recruiting. I know tons of players that liked his offense. And I do think we need to have a balance of passing and running. I loved the old days of pounding it on the ground, but times have changed and I think we need to keep the passing game.

This is big. Who else wanted Pelini?

We need some help! **Contest Included**

I hate when things stay the same, and we haven't updated certain parts of our website for a while now. So, I need your help.

For now we want to focus on this years seniors. We would like all 2007/08 Spectrum seniors to submit a testimonial for our website. A huge part of our business relies on referrals and we wouldn't have it any other way. This is why I would like to keep our testimonial section updated constantly. We have received quite a few in the past few months. But I want to load this puppy up!

So, email designteam@spectrumphoto.com. Tell us about your experience with Spectrum. Be truly and brutally honest! Tell me what you liked, or disliked about your senior photos. Be personal in every way, we want to hear your thoughts, feelings, everything! Write one sentence or 5 paragraphs, it doesnt matter. And if we use your testimonial on our website, it will include your full name. If you are not willing for your thoughts to be published with your full name, thats ok! Still send us your thoughts and let us know you wish to keep it between us :)

The best part, two random people will win EITHER a $25 gift card to iTunes or a $25 gift card to Movie Gallery (your choice). To make it clear, there is no judging. This will be random. So do not....DO NOT... play up your testimonial to make it sound so good you are sure to get the gift cards. I want real, honest, opinions. Again, designteam@spectrumphoto.com.

We will give out the gift cards sometime next month. This is another way we want to thank our clients :).

One more thing. Ken has one more wedding on the books, but in the near future we will be posting a very special post recapping all 2007 weddings. I'll hope to get that out soon.

Have a great Friday!

Having fun in the leaves

A while back Ken photographed a family at their house. We had a relaxed approach and let the kids do their thing.

Meet the family:

And the awesome kids:

You know that wouldnt last long. The little one just had to blast his older sister with a face full of leaves :)

Now its my turn!

These are always the best sessions. People always relax in their own environment. Spectrum is always willing to photograph anywhere, even your home!

Great news!

Spectrum Photographics has teamed up with Memories N Motion to offer, as an add-on to our current packages, video coverage for wedding! Aaron does an amazing job at video and editing.

Check out his website. He has helped us out when things are hectic around here. Plus he is working on several commercial projects :).

Also, Ken is back in the office after a very overdue vacation. I will have him blog about his trip to Cancun later this week. But for now, you will have to settle for this random photo of the Grand Canyon:

Just a reminder

First off, I apologize for not keeping up here. The studio was open 1 day last week and everyone had a great Thanksgiving. We have several new things to blog about, and I should get that out this coming week.

But for now, as a reminder to all of our clients, Christmas orders should be placed by December 5th! Our lab offers a great turn around time, however in order to process your order we need some time. Any special requestions (a new word I came up with ;). Its a mix of requests and questions) please contact nate@spectrumphoto.com.

Here is one sample of our many holiday cards:

Do not delay. Photos make a great present for bridesmaids, family and friends.

Oh, and check out this awesome photo from our new 1.8 lens (click on the photo). Im so drooling...

#80 - NICE!!!

So hawt! I have been drooling over the 85 1.2 or 1.8 for a while now. I think the only reason why Ken got this is because he was tired of me drooling on my desk lol!

Took it out for just one photo because it is COLD outside. We had a nice little snow last night.

Everyone have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Ken, Jeanne, Kat and I have so many things we are thankful for. We treat all of our clients, customers and everyone that has worked with us as friends. Thank you for allowing Spectrum to be a part of your lives.

We will be closed until next Tuesday. Ken will return from Mexico and will photograph on Saturdays by appointment only! If you need anything please leave us a voice message or email nate@spectrumphoto.com.

:)

Gering, Nebraska:

It was a beautiful day! Nate (me) headed to a wedding at Central Church of Christ. Even though it was the opening day of deer & goose season, everyone was able to attend. The brides father was decked out in camo tux instead of scent lock.

The bride booked us just a few months ago after talking to one of my July brides (thanks Lauren!). About two weeks before the wedding I realized I know the groom from high school! It was somewhat of a reunion and so awesome to hear he is doing so well.

Enough typing...
Some details:

While I was working it with the shoes, these two sweeties came up and said "take a picture of my shoes". They were so much fun throughout the day:

The bride engraved the inside of the grooms ring. It was quite awesome:

The groom:

Levi, the grooms brother tried to get his hand into the mix. I love how just his finger is showing!

The guys:

The bride. The second shot is right before the ceremony. She and her father were having a moment together. She read her vows before hand. They chose a section from Ruth as their vows. I was moved...

The best man Levi (left):

He is also a firefighter with the city of Gering. A bit green though, he knows how to get the job done. Side note, he was a part of the first team that went into the Irwins Menagerie fire a month or so ago. Tom and I were part of the RIC and headed in after the very first group. Levi... your such a stud brother!

Its official!

The bride and groom:

We were running out of light fast! Thankfully it was a short drive across the bridge to capture the above photo.
Congrats guys! Have a great honeymoon!

Remember those rocks I mentioned back in July?

Yea, here is Chimney Rock again. Ken was around Bridgeport photographing a senior when the light was just too good. He captured these below:

I will make it priority to throw up a few other "famous Western Nebraska Rocks" next week.

Check back tomorrow for a crazy wedding in Gering. Nate will be out chillin with a bride and groom. Jeanne and Kat are taking the weekend off while Ken will be in the studio in the morning to take care of business :).

One senior this week

****ATTENTION ALL SENIORS**** We need you to choose which photo you want for the yearbook. Choose which one you want before Wednesday, November 14th. Call Jeanne or email us your pose number. For GHS and SHS students, remember we need a head and shoulder photo. No hands!!!

We had one senior this week. Finally a bit of down time to finish several projects. Since we had one senior, we will show a few photos from her sitting (instead of just one). The first one is mine and Kat's favorite. Go Ken!:
