Christmas - 6 days away

Amazing, just yesterday it felt like spring. Another year has gone by so fast. This has been a great year at Spectrum. We kicked it up big time with our wedding line. Not to mention we brought in a new gallery wrap line plus several new card designs. Im super excited for next year!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I have been in and out of the office all last week. My family received some bad news. My mother's sister passed away earlier this week. I have always looked up to my aunt Pat and her family. When we were young, Mike (Ross at the time), Jason, Andrew, Robbie, and the rest of the cousins would hike and play in the Wildcat Hills. We would dig huge underground forts into the side of canyons. It got pretty rough as well; someone was shot in the eye while playing BB gun wars. Man the memories.

Patty was a shining star for her family. My mother's family is so close and connected through their faith. Anytime they would get together they would laugh and share stories about their lives. I feel so honored to be a part of my family. We have a lot of love. Patty would always have a smile on her face. The past 6 months she has battled cancer. Patty gave it her all and fought for herself and family. It was a good fight. I will never forget her beauty and that great loving smile. She gave my family so much love and I will miss her dearly. I am so empathetic to Mike and Jason. We love you guys!

We have some kids!

Sorry for the lagging blog lately. We have been out of the office the past week for Thanksgiving plus have tons of other things going on.

But today we have some kids to share!



Ken took off last week to Mexico. His brother and brother's family is spending over a week in the warm sun while we are here in 23 degree weather. Very nice! How was everyone's Thanksgiving?



Should be a great week! We are working on our families and getting all of our weddings put together. Stay warm out there :)

Just a few more seniors to share.

This senior had an idea with his wresting singlet. We snapped him in two different poses, then photoshopped them together. Lets hope we met his expectations!


Everyone have a great and happy Thanksgiving. We will be out of the office until December 2. We are going to be spending major time with the families. I hope you all do the same.

Seniors, in November!

And I think thats it for 2008. Phew, what a great senior season. Booked over 30 seniors from Gering. I think it has to do with the way we treat our hometown families. I might be wrong...

It is wonderfully warm today. Same for yesterday. Horrible for hunting, but great to hang out and drink a cup of joe. The sunset was beautiful last night. Gave us a piece of serenity for a while. Feels good to end a work day with a sunset like that.

It's Friday

And the wind is blowing like crazy. Pretty typical for Nebraska, but the weather has sucked the last few days and believe it or not, it makes you want to curl up to a nice cup of joe and literally do nothing!

It's also forcing us to stay inside for most of our photos. We had a couple seniors on the books this past week and we didn't go outside. Bummer huh...


Still, Ken does an awesome job no matter where he is.

Today is the last day to submit your yearbook photo. If you are a last minute procrastinator, call jeanne before 5 today with your photo number. We are also gearing up for our family session season. Has it been a while since you got everyone together and took a family photo? Good news, call 308.436.4422 and we can help you :). For all of you Gering families we have a great deal for you.

Tomorrow is another retake day. We will be shooting in the studio from 11:00 to 1:00. If you want/need your child photographed this year show up during that time, fill out an order form, and let the good times roll.

Sorry, I told a fib

I think this is our last last fall session. I set our Canon Mark II to a warmer WB to give a nice fall feel, then shot fast because this little gal is all little girl!

This is my best friends daughter. Brandon has been on me to get some photos for this holiday season but whenever I was free they couldn't, and when I they were free I was busy. It's been a crazy last 6 months (and only going to get crazier with winter on the way). We finally hooked up and shot some out along the river. At first she didn't want to cooperate. But after a while we were able to get a few great ones.

These will go into their holiday card. Be sure to check back on those. We have some cool designs this year!

I think this is our last fall session

Another senior sitting this past Saturday. Its freezing cold and I doubt we will be taking any outdoor photos soon. Winter is a very slow season :(.

Deadline for yearbook photo's is next week. If you haven't called us with your photo number PLEASE do it by November 12th. If you do not then we cannot get a photo to your school (sorry, we will not pick one out for you).

Saturday was a very busy day. First we wanted to say our thoughts and prayers are with the Robles family during this difficult time. When Adrian was a senior in high school we photographed him. Sadly Adrian lost his life in Afghanistan while serving his country. His funeral was Saturday. Prayers to the Robles family.

We also photographed several other seniors on Saturday. Above is a Gering senior Ken has known for a long time. Ken taught him and his sister taekwondo at the YMCA. Man does time fly!

Another Saturday full of seniors. The one highlighted in this post is no stranger to Spectrum. Ken has photographed the family several times in the past. It's always good to see returning clients.

Great idea with the black background. Anytime the family has a portrait taken they snap one with a black background.

Senior Sitting

I apologize, I have neglected the blog! I was out of the office since last Wednesday and couldn't access the blog. But Im back! I wanted to give a shout out to my brother from another mother Justin. He is a senior this year and graduating from Gering. My mother has been on my butt to get his photos set up and naturally I procrastinated. But we finally got him into the studio. Thanks for sticking with me mom :).


We snapped about 40 shots. I want to get him outside with the dog Remi. Lets hope we have at least one more warm day. Wow, tonight it is suppose to snow!

I'll be back tomorrow with some more seniors. Oh yea, did I mention I took my CPR Instructor course this past weekend? Yea... now I can teach CPR. NICE!

Update on our Gallery Wraps

Our Gallery Wraps are so awesome and sweet. We have had some pretty delicious comments about our new entry area with the wraps. Therefore, we are selling more and more!

I urge you all to check these bad boys out. No matter if we photographed you 5 years ago or 5 days ago we can make a canvas for you which would be a truly unique piece of artwork. I am just filling 4 more orders and have several others on the way.

We have everything set and ready to order away. Plan on having these things loaded to our online proofing system very soon. I would also expect a few photo sessions based on these coming soon (hint hint).

Picking it up again

This past week we photographed several seniors AND we have several more on the books in the next two weeks. This is a great time to book your session if you want fall foilage. Repeat, call us to book your fall session this week!

Working on weddings today.

Check out this cutie

A few years ago I had the pleasure of meeting, and photographing their wedding, a great couple from Kimball. I can remember everything from Courtney and Jimmy (best man & maid of honor) to the reception having these killer cheese puffs. It was the first wedding where Spectrum implemented it's new style & workflow. And the couple was the coolest couple to work with.

Since then they have moved to Sidney and had their daughter. It was pretty cool to see them again and take photos of their precious daughter. And wow did she have her own way of doing things. It was more of "lets play with this" instead of your average "sit here and smile" session. I cannot wait until she is either old enough to walk or gets over her phobia of grass. That way we can get some killer shots outside!

Here's a few seniors

Happy October everyone. This week has been beautiful. The leaves are starting to change and the autumn air is a relief. I love this time of year.

We have been busting our butts working on school photos. Gering Elementary schools have been delivered and now we are working our customer service :). Anyone have any issues please contact us right away.






We have a few weddings to post as well. And I know, our website was to go online a while ago. That was put on the back burner so we could finish a few other things. But things are getting back on track. YES!

September 19, 2008 - Mitchell

Getting back on track finally. I should snap a few photos of my desk and show you how horrible it is. I cleared a few things up and busted on my wedding, which was totally amazing. I know I say that about every wedding, but this one did not disappoint.

You might remember the bride and groom from their engagement session a while back. I was pretty stoked about the photos we got then and I was pretty excited to shoot the wedding. Not to mention I was able to visit with some recent wedding clients.

It started off first thing at 8 a.m. (click photos to enlarge). While the guys were doing this...

The morning went great. I was able to hear stories and most of the time the bride and groom were on the phone talking with all of their family & friends. I can recall the bride mentioning how the groom was texting her like crazy. These two are so into each other. You know how some people just ooze love for one other and you could feel it in the air? Yea, thats what I was feeling. Now, fast forward 2.5 hours...

During the ceremony the minister made the bride and groom look at each others hands. He explained how each set of hands would play a major role in their marriage. It was very touching.

Afterwards we took off to a hot spot for a few photos. The "end of the day" lighting was sweet.

The couple was off to the mountains for a nice relaxing honeymoon. It was a pleasure getting to work on the 19th. I truly enjoy what I do and I am so thankful to meet such amazing people. It was also great to sit down and talk with others that I have worked with.
