First Senior Session of the year

I just got the OK to offer some amazing new products, only from Spectrum!

I am not sure how this will price out, or the actual specific size (still dealing with that), but we will be offering these very awesome books! Spectrum is always on top of the game. We have been looking for places to publish actual books with the best quality, as we are about the best quality. We stumbled across a company that offers something that we like. With our creativity these books will be the hottest thing around!

Similar to fashion or magazines, these new books will have all of the custom effects, great photographs, and fantastic design.

We will be incorporating it into our line of wedding books, but the huge test run is on our seniors. You get an amazing book with that great Spectrum flare.

These are a couple of our simple designs for our Seniors (posing is actually our first senior session of the year). The Senior books are going to be soft covers. At least that is the first plan. The weddings will include more extensive designs and will be a hard cover. Not to mention these will be our first rectangular book.

Its a totally smooth addition to our already great finished products. I will snap some photos of the finished book once its completed and in our hands!

Everyone have a great weekend. Nate is off to a fabulous wedding in Scottsbluff tomorrow. Check back Sunday for some great photos.

June 23, 2007 Wedding - Chadron Nebraska

It reached the triple digit temparature Saturday. This is the number one reason we stayed inside!

Saturday's wedding was FANTASTIC. As usual, the bride and groom was looking amazing. She wore a very elegant dress. Simple, yet stunning. The entire wedding party was great to work with. There was some amazing light in the entrance to the church. The hardest part was defining the background. But using the awesome 85mm 2.8 Nikon lens took care of that.

Chadron is such a beautiful place. I took a few minute Saturday morning and visited the State Park. Its so much different than the Wild Cat hills. Not to mention part of the Pine Ridge is recovering from some devasting fires last year.

**Note**: Click on the photos will enlarge them.

Starting off with the details:
The dress was so awesome.

The rings. The bride kept them a secret, meaning the first time the groom seen them was when they exchanged vows:

A litle tighting up the shoes:

The bride & groom & wedding party:

The reception was held at the Art Center. It is an old catholic church that was converted into a center. The place is off the hook! It was decorated beautifully, had hard wood floors, and the lighting was great.

Reception photos:

I captured this photo while on my way home. The sunsets these past few days have been spectacular!

Wheatland & Chadron

We're still working on a method for previewing images on the blog. We have a few options, but we will be testing things out on Sunday with images from tomorrows wedding. Speaking of that, the wedding will be held in Chadron Nebraska. We love going up to Chadron and spending some time in the State Park. Its such a beautiful place and tomorrow will be no different!

Last year was a horrible fire season for Western Nebraska. Along with our area, Valentine, Harrison and Chadron had some heavy loss to due wildfire. Hundreds of thousands of acres burned last year, and you can still see the black area. One wildfire actually went straight to the college (it burnt to the "C Hill").

We did not take these photos. I pulled these from my collection of the July 2006 fires.

The first one is from Harrison, while the rest is from Chadron. Im trying to locate the aerial photo of C Hill. It was pretty amazing!

This weekend Ken had a break from weddings and is heading to Wyoming for a great fishing trip. The best place to flyfish! This means our studio will be closed on Saturday. If there is an emergency during the weekend you can contact us via email and someone will get back to you.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Chimney Rock

Nebraska is filled with all kinds of distinctive rock formations. Western Nebraska alone has about 15. The people that migrated west via the Oregon Trail followed most of the North Platte River. And along this route is Chimney Rock, which is also along the route to Sidney.

I was a bit late to catch the sunset over the rock, but I did capture this image:

This is probably one of the most photographed "rock" in Western Nebraska. Its pretty cool at night because it is lit up from in-ground lights. If I can, I will post some other famous "rocks" from Western Nebraska.

June 16 Weddings

Week two of the major wedding season. In Nebraska the weather is either hot or cold it seems. And yesterday was a warm day.

Ken photographed in Gering with a very smooth couple. We took their engagement sitting and knew the wedding day was going to be a great one! After the vows, everyone headed to the park for some fun shots. The Collage:

Nathan hit the road to Sidney, home of the fabulous Cabela's! It was a nice day, but the wind kept us from going outside. Towards the end of the day there was about a 40 minute gap in the weather. Then it started to rain! The Collage:

Check back mid week to see the virtual albums!

Part 2 in Scottsbluff:
Such a nice, elegant, intimate gathering. The day was amazing and the sidewalk going up to the church was decorated with all kinds of balloons.

Several ways to access our proofing section

Spectrum Photographics has an online proofing section, obviously. We have received several questions about our process and how to access these.

Basically, all weddings we photograph will be added to our proofing section and will be release to the bride and groom first! It is their resposibility to email everyone else the password. If you want to look at the photos we captured, please contact the bride & groom for access.

For all families that are separated by distance, we add their photo shoot to our proofing section. To access the photos we captured, please contact us via phone or email and we will give you the password.

All other types of photo sessions are added to our proofing section on a case by case basis. When scheduling your session, ask us about our online proofing section!

How do you access this you ask? Its cake! There is a link to the right (in our Helpful Links section) labeled "Spectrums Proofing Section". Also visit our website and click on "CLICK HERE TO ORDER PRINTS". Or, visit the Clients/Events section of our website.

PDF's, GGSA, and weddings!

We are processing GO Baseball & GGSA. Parents, we are expecting a 2-3 week delivery from the time we photographed the last team. These photos will be delivered to the coaches, which in turn will be handed out to each parent.

We are using Fong's new Album Showcase for wedding book previews. I am in the process of updating all 2005 wedding clients with the new and improved album designs. If you haven't yet, you will be receiving an email detailing how to access your new album design.

Ken and Nathan are off to weddings this Saturday. While Nathan will be in Bayard/Bridgeport, Ken will be working it in Gering. Im sure we will have a few collages to show off on Monday!!!!
